  • What is SUP South Fork?

    SUP South Fork is an outdoor recreation rental service offering stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), kayaks, and tubes for use on the Rio Grande headwaters and nearby reservoirs in South Fork, Wolf Creek pass and Creede Colorado areas.

  • Where are you located?

    We are based at 30483 HWY 160, South Fork, Colorado, serving the upper Rio Grande and surrounding lakes and reservoirs.

  • What types of rentals do you offer?

    We offer:

    ● Stand-up paddleboards (SUPs)

    ● Kayaks (single and tandem, depending on availability) 

    ● River tubes

Rentals and reservations

  • Do I need to make a reservation?

    Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during weekends and peak summer months. Walk-ups are welcome based on availability.

  • How do I book a rental?

    You can book online or in person (if inventory allows).

  • What is included with my rental?

    Each rental includes:

    ● Paddle (for SUPs and kayaks)

    ● Personal flotation device (PFD/life jacket)

    ● Helmet

    ● Basic safety orientation

    ● Optional add-ons (dry bags, straps, etc., if available)

  • What are your rental time options?

    We offer flexible rental durations, including half-day, and full-day options.

Experience & Safety Level

  • Do I need prior experience?

    No experience is required. We provide a quick introduction and basic instructions to get you started safely.

  • Is it safe for beginners?

    Yes. We can recommend calm sections of water or still water reservoirs that are ideal for beginners.

  • Are life jackets required?

    Yes. Life jackets (PFDs) are provided and must be worn or carried according to local regulations.

  • What age is appropriate for rentals?

    - You must be 18 or older to rent equipment or have an adults supervision

    - Paddleboards and kayaks: generally recommended for ages 8+ (younger

    riders may ride with an adult)

    - Tubing: best for confident swimmers; age limits may vary depending on

    river conditions. For still water, tubes are appropriate for any age, with adult supervision.

Location & CONDITIONS

  • Where can I use the equipment?

    Our equipment is suitable for:

    ● The headwaters of the Rio Grande

    ● Local reservoirs and lakes in the South Fork, Wolf Creek, Creede and Del Norte areas

    We’ll recommend the best locations based on current water conditions and your skill level.

  • Do you provide transportation or shuttle services?

    At this time we do not offer shuttle service. We may expand this offering in the future.

  • What are river conditions like?

    Conditions vary depending on snowmelt, rainfall, and time of year. We provide up- to-date guidance to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.


What to bring

  • What should I bring for my trip?

    We recommend:

    ● Swimsuit or quick-dry clothing

    ● Hooded sun shirt

    ● Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat 

    ● Water and snacks

    ● Water shoes or secure sandals 

    ● A towel and change of clothes

    ● Dry bag for storage

  • Can I bring my phone or valuables?

    Yes, you may utilize phones and cameras at your own risk. We recommend waterproof protection (dry bags may be available for rent or purchase). We recommend storing valuables somewhere safely and only bringing what you need on the river/reservoir.


Weather & Cancelations

  • What happens if the weather is bad?

    Safety is our priority. Rentals may be delayed or rescheduled in cases of unsafe weather (high winds, storms, etc.).

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    You will not be charged for reservations cancelled 24 hours prior to the reservation. You may be charged the booking fee. Reservations cancelled within 24 hours are non refundable.

PETS & GROUPS

  • Are dogs allowed?

    Yes, at your own risk, well-behaved dogs are welcome on certain equipment (especially paddleboards), but please confirm availability and suitability in advance. Bringing furry friends is not recommended for the river.

  • Do you offer group rentals or events?

    Yes! We accommodate groups, including families, parties, and small events. Advance booking is recommended for larger groups.

    We may offer a limited selection of accessories such as dry bags, sunscreen, and water gear.
